Rice & Ritual: a photo exhibit and benefit for Batad’s Terraces
The exhibit will remain on view at the Filipino Bayanihan Center through November 14th, 2025, and can be visited on weekdays from 1-5pm.
Rice and Ritual: From Seed to Harvest in Batad’s Terraces by Alexander Pomper (@alexanderpomper) is a photo exhibit and community benefit celebrating the Ifugao people and their living landscape of the Batad rice terraces, in the Philippines.
Curated by Filipino-American photographer Celeste Noche (@extracelestial ), the series captures the cycles of planting, harvesting, rice wine fermentation and production, and sacred ceremonies—revealing how ecology and tradition are intertwined within one of the world’s most remarkable agricultural areas.
Despite its breathtaking beauty, the region faces increasing threats due to destructive typhoons and landslides, accelerated by the climate crisis.
Proceeds from the event will support the Traditional Farmers’ Association in Batad for terrace rehabilitation, as well as typhoon relief on the ground in the Philippines.
Proudly supported by: @kalikasan_sol_org , @bayanihanoregon , @prophotosupply and @pamanapdx
